Willow Workshops

If you want to experience something different, my workshops are a great way to get “hands-on” with this traditional craft in the company of new friends

The courses run from 10-4 and weather permitting we can work outdoors in a beautiful quiet relaxing location. The workshops are relaxed and friendly and there is a light lunch provided and as many drinks as you require throughout the day.

I will take you through the process of weaving your chosen subject and will help you to achieve it in the time given so everyone goes home with a finished sculpture

Berry Picking Basket Workshop

Come along and make this lovely little Berry picking basket.

I will show you how to make the slath (bottom of basket) the upsets and weaving the sides and finish with a simple track border.

Start time: 10 a.m. finish at 4 p.m.
Cost: £90
Lunch is included and all your drinks throughout the day.

About the workshop

Duration: 10am – 4pm
Price: £90

Learn to sculpt your own small willow animal in the grounds of my home in the beautiful setting of Donington Le Heath We can work indoors or outdoors (weather permitting). Come and join me for a fun and relaxed informal day willow weaving.

To start off with I would recommend a small animal or bird as the craft is very time consuming and I want you to leave with a finished piece of willow sculpture. I will show you the techniques I use to make the sculpture from start to finish and feel free to bring along any pictures to work from or I can print a picture of your choice as a reference for you to work from when you arrive.

What’s included in the price?

Tea/Coffee and a light lunch will be provided throughout the day and materials are included in the price. We are close to Kelham Bridge nature reserve if you fancied a short walk on your break. I would recommend that you chose a small sculpture to start with and if you could think about what you would like to make and advise me it would be very helpful so I can plan your day.

We both really enjoyed this course. Kate was an excellent teacher very patient with all us novices. I made a lovely goose which I am really proud of, Alan was a little over ambitious making a fox, which he completed 90% of, Kate has kindly offered to finish it off for him. Lovely lunch and plenty of drinks. Had a lovely day.
